April 30

Hello family,

Another week has gone by. I am coming up on one year soon. The time has flown by so fast. I can't believe. I am glad that dropping Chelle off at the MTC went well. I miss her already and I know that she will have the best time serving the Lord. It is crazy to think that we are both out on mission. I hope that we will continue to communicate as well and share our experiences together as well. Is here email rachelle.ackley@myldsmail.net? And could I possibly get her mailing address. I want to send her something for her birthday. She has a great spirit and will bless the lives of those who are in Florida.

I love the GPS. It is working out great and really helping us find the places that we need to go. Sister Yoon has been the one watching it for me and telling me where to go. It has been fun and a great adventure. Sister Yoon leaves tomorrow morning. I am going to miss her a lot. She has been a lot of fun and we have been working really hard together. I will be in another trio with Sisters George and Chambers until the 13 of may. That is when the transfer ends and then that Tuesday is when I will pick up my new companion. I believe her name is Sister Lee. I am very excited to be training again. I love training and helping them with loving the work and the people here. We haven't had much time for Korean this week, but I am starting to understand and pick out words as people talk to me or to Sister Yoon. I will continue to have my new companion teach me Korean. I am very excited for this new adventure that awaits me.

This week we were able to meet with Lee again. We were able to teach him the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The lesson went well. I was able to teach most of the lesson and Sister Yoon translated it. The spirit was so powerful there and I knew that I was being lead by the spirit to know what Lee needed. He is changing and is understanding more and more everyday. We are teaching him again tonight and we are going to start reading the Book of Mormon with him. I hope that he has been praying about the Book of Mormon. He really does show interested and I hope that he will be able to come to church with us this week.

We were out visiting some potentials and actually had some great success. We stopped a lady named Francis. She said that she was busy at the time that we stopped by and asked if we would come by the next day. We said we would. The next day we stopped by and she let us in. We got to know her a little bit and found out that she has lost her husband and that she is wondering what her purpose of life is. Our conversation ended up with us talking about the spirit and about prophets. She has a lot of questions and is interested in knowing more about our church. She told us that she has read the Book of Mormon and even did a project in school about Joesph Smith. We were stunned when we heard this. She is a neat lady. She has gone through a lot and I know that what we have to share with her will help her and will  bring happiness to her life. We are going to teach her on Wednesday and talk more about revelation and the Holy Spirit and hopefully we will be able to answer some of her questions that she has.

We gave a church tour to Sister Park. She is a lady that we are working with and teaching her English. Her English is coming a long really fast and she is doing well. Her interested in learning more about the gospel has grown so much. When we gave her the tour the spirit was strong and She could feel it. She really like the peaceful feeling and the comfort that she felt in the church. When we talked about baptism and gave her a soft commit she said yes. We talked about the Book of Mormon and explained what it is and told her about praying to know if it was true. We asked her to say the closing prayer and she did it. She said the prayer in Korean and even though I didn't know what she was saying I could feel the spirit so strong. She had said a sincere and heartfelt prayer and asked Heavenly Father to help her know and understand if what we are teaching is true and that if it is, should she be baptized. When Sister Yoon told me this I got goosebumps. She is super open and enjoys listening to us teach her about the gospel. I hope and pray that she will get her answer and will be able to recognize that it is the Holy Ghost testifying to her. What a great experience we had with her.

We were also able to go to a Assisted Living home and sing hymns to the Residents there. They all really enjoyed it and I loved being there with them as well. They all have such great spirits. It was really fun and I really enjoyed being able to make them smile and feel good. Doing service no matter what it is, is always so great. We were also able to be in the Mormon Helping Hands this past weekend. It was a lot of fun. We collected can food and packed it up to send to the food banks. Sister Yoon and I went with the Korean Branch President and the 1st counselor. It was fun to be with them and to build trust with them. They are great people and I am very excited to be in the Branch and to help them with missionary work.

We met with Adrianna this week and taught her more of the commandments. The ones that we taught her this past week were the Law of Chasity and the Word of Wisdom. We taught these out of the Strength of Youth. She really enjoyed the lesson and had some great input. We tried to set another baptism date with her, but the grandma wants to wait a little bit until her dad is on board with her getting baptized. We are still going to meet with her and teach her and also we are going to get the missionaries in Covina to meet with her as well since she is there most of the weeks and to get her to go to church out there. I still pray and have faith that she will be able to be baptized this summer.

We met with Brother Runner this week again. We talked about the importance of church attendance and read in Moroni 6. In this chapter it talks about the Holy Ghost and how we go to church to feel of the spirit and to get the revelations that we need. Church isn't just about the social part it is to renew our baptismal covenants and to regenerate our spirits and to learn from the spirit. We felt strongly to share this with him because he won't go to the other hours of church and says that they are too boring. We thought that this would be good and to tell him that it isn't boring and that we don't go just to go, we go to learn and to feel the spirit and to get answers to his prayers. He is having a hard time with this, but is willing to try and change. He, however, did not attend the other classes. He only stayed for sacrament. I know that Brother Runner is progressing and is feeling the spirit and that he will start to feel comfortable one day to stay for all three hours.

I know that this gospel is true. I know that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and is proud of my decision to come out on a mission. I know that my prayers are answered and that I am able to have the strength from the holy spirit. I have a strong testimony of faith. I know that if we have faith all things are possible. I know that it is our faith that helps us believe in so many things. Faith is the start of conversion and to know that we can be truly forgiven of our sins. I know this because I have had faith in a lot of things and have seen myself grow and have seen the people I teach grow. I love this gospel and I love being a missionary.

I love you all so much and I hope that you have a wonderful week. Keep up the great work and remember to always smile! :)

Love Sister Ackley
