Hello Family,
It was so good to talk you all yesterday. You are all getting so big. It was fun to hear all about school and the activities that you have done. Just think the next time that I get to talk and see you all is when I come home. It is crazy that at the end of the month it will be one year. Time has flown by way too fast. I really do love it out here and I am so grateful for the choice that I made to serve a full time mission. It really is the BEST 18 months ever. Boys, I really hope that you will all choose to serve a mission. Like I said yesterday it is the best thing you could ever do and you will never regret that choice. I have learned so much more about the gospel, about people, and things about myself that I would have never known if I didn't come here on a mission. My testimony has grown so much and I am still going strong with my faith and diligence and working hard to see the miracles that the Lord has in store for me.
So this morning we had a training meeting for all of the missionaries who are training the new missionaries and it was really neat. President taught us and explained that the first thing that he does with transfers is pick the trainers. He also says that he cannot mess up on who he chooses to be a trainer. President told all of us that we have been chosen to be trainers because we are his best missionaries right now. That made me feel good to hear. We went over some scriptures in D&C 121 and liken them to us as trainers. It was really cool. Some of the things that we had pointed out is that a trainer needs to be obedient to ALL the rules, we must be dedicated to the work and work diligently, we must be willing to lead and to be led by our trainee's, we need to be teachable, faith filled-knowing that we can find people to teach and to baptized, and lastly we need to have humility. It is important for us trainers to have these so that we can teach our new companions and help them work just has hard. I am so excited to train again and to mold this new missionary into the missionary that the Lord wants her to be.
This week we picked up a new investigator named Alex. He is pretty solid. Last week he came walking into the church and wanted to know who he could talked to about changing his life around. The Elders were there at the time that he came in and gave him a church tour and taught the Restoration. They even committed him to be baptized. He said yes and they set a date for May 26. We then had a pass off lesson with us sister and were able to teach him the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We talked about how important it is to follow the principles of the gospel. He really understood what we were teaching him and said that he felt the spirit. We asked him to read and to pray about the Book of Mormon and he said that he would. We also taught him the Law of Chasity. He understood that and didn't have any questions about it. I felt impressed to teach him this commandment because he is divorced and is currently living with his ex-wife. We told him that it would be best to find another place to stay and to much of our surprise he was alright I can do that. He is so great and is willing to do whatever it takes for him to be baptized. He came to church yesterday and stay all three hours and really enjoyed it. I can see the blessing from the Lord already. Alex asked if he could come into work late so that he could go to church and his boss said that he could take all the time that he needed for church. I think that is pretty amazing and because he is willing to do anything and trust in the Lord, the Lord is truly blessing him for that. Alex is amazing and it is so fun to see him so excited to learn new things and to prepare himself for baptism.
I have been working with the Korean Elder and we have been teaching a few English classes this past week. We were able to teach Lee. He is doing well and his English is coming along. He is learning a lot faster every time that we teach him. We also introduced him to the Book of Mormon and read the introduction to him. He understood what he was reading and said that he would read and pray about the Book of Mormon. It has been fun teaching him English. We also saw Brian, who is another person that we are teaching English too. He actually knows pretty good English and is moving a long so quickly. We also read the introduction of the Book of Mormon. He read it in English and said that he understood it as well. He said that he would come to church with us sometime, but not right now. He wants to learn more first and he doesn't want to be pushed into anything too quickly. Sister Park was able to meet with us this week too. She is so much fun and laughs so much. Her English is coming so well and is doing well when she speaks to us. She is still open to listening to the missionary lessons, but last time we ran out of time and could teach her about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We plan on teaching her that this week.
We have bee so busy and teaching lots of people. Oh a Cool experience that I happened this week. We have been trying to into a part member family and they have always cancelled on us and so we kind of stopped bugging them. Well last Monday sister Martinez who is a non member contacted us and said that her family needs help and she wanted us to come over and teach them. We went over that and she explained that she could feel a difference when the missionaries where there and when we stopped going over there. She has felt the spirit and wanted that back into her home. We are going to start going over there every week and teach them the missionary lessons and I hope that sis Martinez will want to be baptized so that she can be a family forever. This family is amazing and I am so excited to bring the spirit into the home and to teach them all more about this wonderful gospel.
Well I want you all to know how much I love this gospel and how much I love being a missionary. I know I say it every week, but it is true. It makes me feel so good when I teach a lesson and know that I am being a spokes person for the spirit and it is a wonderful thing to see peoples faces light up when they know that what we are teaching is true. I know that Heavenly Father loves me and has great things for me. I know that I have a Savior that loves me and is always here for me. I know that when I pray I can always have the strength that I need to keep going strong. I honestly am so glad for the challenges that I have been face with because I grow so much from them and know that they are just preparing me for the future. I know that families are forever and that I will be with mine for eternity.
I love you all and I hope you have a wonderful week. Stay strong and be examples to all those around you.
Love Sister Ackley
